Hot & Crusty is one of New York’s best-known and finest bakeries. They are committed to selling bread with no preservatives, additives or chemicals fresh every day. Their products are excellent because they don’t cut corners and make their flavorful, rustic breads by using the best flours, fermenting their doughs slowly and baking on a stone hearth. Their delicious pastries are made with creamery butter, quality chocolate and pure extracts.
Hot & Crusty opened its first store in 1980 on sixty-Third Street and Second Avenue. Over the next couple of years, the company opened more stores, building complete bakeries into each one. In 1994, the company granted licenses for the use of the “Hot & Crusty” name. This proved very successful and in 1997, a new company called Hot & Crusty Franchise Corp. was created to franchise new stores. To this end, a central baking facility was acquired in which all bread doughs and pastries are made. All baking is done on a European deck oven, in front of the customers, thus creating interest in the baking activity and enticing diners with a delicious baking aroma. Try ordering for yourself.

salad was good, quesadillas were terrible

I order lunch from Hot and Crust a lot of days and I find the food to be at a high level of freshness and preparation, the delivery fast and friendly, and the prices quite reasonable. Some of their specialty items, such as the chicken quesadilla, are excellent. They have a very good home made chicken noodle soup. They also deliver hot tea, which is surprisingly rare in Seamless restaurants. It's not a gourmet restaurant, but the food is fresh and the service is excellent.

Food is generally fast and descent but the last 3 times I ordered from here they were out of what I ordered and they sent a substitute. If I wanted something other than what I ordered I would have ordered it. Won't be ordering from here anymore.

Great breakfast fare. No complaints about that here. Delivery is mostly consistent and nearly always within the 15-30-minute range), but you have to specify that you want to be called for substitutions if some items are unavailable. Even then you might not get a call telling you they've run out of the cheese danish you ordered and find some strange apple croissant in your bag instead, without any explanations at all.

Always very quick delivery and they have never gotten my order wrong. The food is quite fresh and tasty, especially their bagels and breakfast sandwiches!!

A mixed bag... the smoothie and the fresh OJ were both really good, I'm sure the OJ really was fresh squeezed as described. But eggs and bagels from there are just OK. Not a terrible hangover morning delivery choice, but not as good as the nearby West Way Cafe diner, in my opinion.

The first (and last time) I ordered from here, my food took almost an hour to get to me, even though the delivery time was 10-15 mins. They said they could not "find my building" but I only live a few blocks away. By the time I got my breakfast sandwiches they were cold.

The food is usually perfect--if they get the order right. They've sent me substitutions to specific things I have ordered, without calling to check if I want the substitutions (eg. replacing an everything bagel with an egg bagel--instead of just calling to check if I want a specific substitute, like a salt bagel). Relatively minor, but annoying. Overall good food and fast service.

We never ever write reviews, but the last 3 times we have placed an order for a later time in the day and it always comes an hour or more early. We even called and wrote special instructions that we would not be home earlier and they still bring the food whenever it is ready, resulting in cold and often old-tasting food. We love hot and crusty but won't order from this one again.

Food is alright, pretty mediocre but the service is HORRIBLE. If they don't have the sides then they just substitute it with anything and give you attitude about when you ask them. I'll just take my business elsewhere.

Tasty food delivered on time -- instructions followed to a "T" while a standard menu item was inexplicably omitted.

Pretty good; far better than one would expect from a chain restaurant. Ingredients are very fresh.
